Hi, I’m Emma, and this is my virtual home. I’m so glad you decided to stop by. If you’re reading this page, that probably means you want to know a bit more about me, so here’s the brief version of my life story in 300 words or less:

I am originally from a small town in the west of Ireland. I have a professional background in childcare development and previously worked as a kindergarten teacher.
That’s fortunately the most boring line in the story, and we’ve already passed it so keep reading.
While I threw my heart and soul into teaching, it didn’t really give me back the kind of returns I was expecting. Of course it was a great experience and it had its highlights, but after a few years I found the days beginning to blur together.
Like most people, I had put aside the dreams of my childhood to do the sensible thing.
Having a job, buying a house, owning a car, and perhaps later starting a family are apparently the ultimate purpose of life.
At least this is the message I found being forced into my mind from the day I started primary school until the day I threw caution to the wind and quit my safe, sensible career path forever.
Life is too short and too important to put it on hold doing something “sensible” for 30 years.
I want to live life on my terms, doing things I’m passionate about and having real experiences. My goal now is to live life to the full, so I can look back later and truthfully say I regret nothing.
After quitting my job, I did some volunteering in Africa and Asia, then took my first tentative steps into the world of freelance writing.
There’s nothing safe, secure or sensible about being a writer, but it’s never boring. Security is fine for those who crave it. As for me, I crave freedom, adventure and a creative lifestyle.
